North Korea Launches 720 Trash-Laden Balloons Across Heavily Armed Border

South Korea Hit with North Korea's Latest Aerial Provocation

North Korea has reignited a cross-border balloon campaign, sending hundreds of trash-laden balloons into South Korea overnight Saturday.

According to the South Korean military, around 720 balloons were launched across the heavily armed border, carrying payloads of manure, cigarette butts, scrap cloth, and waste batteries.

This latest provocation follows a similar campaign earlier in the week, when North Korea sent hundreds of balloons into South Korea. The balloons have been floating into South Korea's airspace for hours, causing a public nuisance and environmental concerns.

Seoul officials have reported that around 600 of the balloons have floated into South Korea so far, raising concerns about the potential for further provocations.

North Korea has not officially acknowledged the balloon launches, which have become a recurring source of tension between the two Koreas.
