Jim Kelly: Bills Legend Diagnosed With Cancer

Former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly has been diagnosed with cancer.

Kelly, 58, announced the news on his Twitter account on Tuesday. He said he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the upper jaw.

Squamous cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that develops in the flat cells that line the surfaces of the body, including the skin, mouth, and throat.

Kelly said he is undergoing treatment and is "confident" he will beat the cancer.

"I'm not going to let this beat me," Kelly said. "I'm going to fight this thing with everything I have."

Kelly played for the Bills from 1986 to 1996. He led the team to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances from 1990 to 1993, but the Bills lost all four games.

Kelly was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.

Kelly's diagnosis comes just months after another Bills legend, Thurman Thomas, was diagnosed with cancer. Thomas was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May and is currently undergoing treatment.

The news of Kelly's diagnosis has sent shockwaves through the Bills community and beyond. Fans and former teammates have taken to social media to offer their support and prayers.

"Jim Kelly is a fighter," said former Bills coach Marv Levy. "He's going to beat this thing."

Kelly's diagnosis is a reminder that cancer can strike anyone, regardless of age or health. It is important to get regular cancer screenings and to be aware of the signs and symptoms of cancer.

If you have any concerns about cancer, please talk to your doctor.
